Shall We Date? War of Prayers-Dang, this is some good stuff

As you might know, I’m not a fan of mobile otome games. It’s not the money, because I really am getting sick and tired of people poorly rating these games because they aren’t free.

Excuse me?! This is a business and the only way we can even get these games in the first place is through paying for them. Which equates to voting for more otome games. And I believe that thanks to the mobile market and Hakuouki, we even got Norn9, Amnesia, and Code Realize in English for the Vita. Your money means so much more than purchasing a single route guys. Quit complaining, $4.99 for 16 CHAPTERS is nothing to be butthurt about.

So, I’d like to make posts about mobile games that were worth my money and time. And I bring to you War of Prayers:

I won’t be giving any spoilers until I start individually reviewing the routes which will in separate posts.

Basically, the heroine lives in a world where Prayer Maidens and their Knights fight Shadows that are terrorizing the kingdoms. Due to events in the FREE prologue that immediately won me over, she is chosen to become the newest Prayer Maiden. And she gets to choose a knight who is responsible for helping her to transform to fight the Shadows.

Yep, it’s a magical girl otome. And a VERY good one.

First off- the music. Dear Lord, this music is GOOD. The prologue immediately gloats its best track, a gorgeous piano piece that really hooked me. And it isn’t just this track. Practically the entire game has a very good ost revolving around fantasy sounding beats and orchestral pieces.

The art obviously is gorgeous. I can’t praise it enough.

And the translations are solid. Very few typos pervade the game, but it’s nothing that detracted from my experience.

Finally, the knights. All of them are interesting, and each lend to the plot. The heroine chooses one guy at the end of the prologue and you get to play his entire story of 16 chapters for only $4.99. Guys, I can’t stress this enough. This is a great price and if you are someone who complains about this, please grow up. Get a job. That’s what I did.

Here are the knights:

Liam the Tailor: tumblr_nzs19pjowp1qd1w54o5_1280

For my first play, I chose Liam. And oh my God. Like, I don’t know if he’s the best route, but DAMN, I loved it.

Now the catch for every story is basically that a Prayer Maiden CANNOT fall in love or she will die. There are multiple endings and sadly, only 3 saves….so, while you can still keep the CG’s and stuff, if you want to save a particular route ending, save your bookmarks.

Your choices fill up the two crystals below for which ending you get:

So as you can guess, all the stories feature a forbidden love between the heroine and her knight. And I love these stories. Even for people who aren’t into this kind of thing, I think it’ll do the trick. The writing is good, and while the villain is predictable, I have to admit I was really impressed with this game.

We also have GIRL FRIENDSHIPS and NO GIRL HATE! XD ( at least what I could see from my first play). The heroine definitely has her own personality and I found myself glad to root for her.

I highly recommend this game!!

It sure looks amazing! It always amazes me that people happily fork out for handheld games but not for mobile games. I much prefer to pay for a good game, and not be irritated by all kinds of ways they find to make you pay to play anyway.

I agree! I’m glad that you only need to pay for a route and whether or not you want other stories featuring them is up to you and your wallet. And the extras are 99 cents. Maybe ppl think that because it’s mobile, it doesn’t count as a “game?”

Always surprises me when people think that way. Sure, most aren’t as good as handheld games, but there are some gems. Plus, having an easy to pick up game for over your coffee break is nice too!
